Our meetings take place in Galway city and currently our branch members hail from Galway, Clare, Roscommon, Mayo, Westmeath, Sligo, Sweden and the USA The venue for our meetings is the Galway Bridge Centre St Mary's Road Galway H91 C2C3 from 10am - 12.30 Our meetings feature guest speakers, a show and tell of members' recent work and visiting shops with patchwork and quilting supplies.....and a welcoming cuppa on arrival. OUR NEXT MEETING: SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH The next Branch meeting of the Western Branch will take place on Saturday September 12th. We look forward to welcoming members back and seeing some new faces as well. Exhibition The exhibition of the Western Branch in the Visitor Centre of the Connemara National Park as part of August Craft Month was a great success. The Exhibition had 20 pieces, each piece was 46 cm square to mark the 46th year since the Park opened. All pieces were been inspired by the history, scenery, flora and fauna of the Park.

Suzy O’Keefe, Head of Digital & Communications, DCCI, travelled to Letterfrack to open the exhibition and complimented the work on show and the work done by the IPS members in keeping craft alive for future generations. Approximately 30 people attended the opening, a mix of WB members, family and friends and members of the local community. Over the days a rota of different members invigilated at the exhibition and engaged with members of the public. There was a great response to the work on show from young and old alike.
Heritage, and Biodiversity was making a visit to the CNP to open new features. Minister O'Sullivan was very impressed with the workmanship and creativity of the quilts, in particular how they captured so many important aspects of the CNP. Julia, Mari and Johanna were there to greet the Minister and tell him about the IPS and the various activities offered by the society. The CNP purchased the quilt of his choice to present to him as a memento of his visit. The Minister chose “Steps in Ellis Woods” by Mari Moran.
